Denmark commits EUR 5.4 million to help vulnerable Moldovans pay their energy bills

Denmark commits EUR 5.4 million to Moldova’s Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund (EVRF). The support includes compensation for the increased cost of gas and electricity for energy vulnerable Moldovans in the current winter period.

Denmark condemns Russia’s use of energy as a geopolitical weapon in Moldova. These actions have great effect on the Moldovan people who are facing increased costs for gas and electricity. Denmark will continue to support Moldova’s energy independence and resilience and remain a longstanding partner of Moldova.”, says Denmark’s Ambassador to Moldova, Søren Jensen.

Aside from the new commitment to support EVRF, Denmark supports Moldova’s efforts towards increase energy efficiency, a green energy transition and to align the energy sector with EU standards.

The new assistance complements existing Danish support to Moldova, which amounts to over EUR 30 million.
