Visit of the Denmark's Minister for EU Affairs to Moldova
On November 26 and 27, 2024, Denmark's Minister for EU Affairs, Marie Bjerre, visited Moldova.
During her two-day visit, Minister Bjerre held meetings with Moldova’s President, Prime Minister, Vice Prime Minister for EU Integration, civil society representatives, and EU affairs students.
“Being part of the EU is contingent on certain key elements: An efficient judiciary; the fight against corruption and organised crime; a well-functioning economy; rules and standards to be implemented in agriculture and different industries.
Nobody is claiming this change is easy. It will require hard work and tough choices. But those changes will be for the better. Many of the Eastern European countries that have joined the EU in the previous decades have seen their prosperity multiply manifold since their entrance in the Union.”
These points were made by the Minister of EU Affairs of Denmark at her key note address at Moldova European Integration Forum.
During the held meetings, the Minister Bjerre discussed strengthening bilateral relations and reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to supporting Moldova’s EU accession. She engaged with youth and civil society organizations to better understand the challenges and perspectives on Moldova’s path to EU integration.
The minister also emphasized Moldova's strong commitment to advancing its European integration process.
The Minister is visiting Moldova as part of a tour of all EU candidate countries to prepare Denmark’s presidency of the EU in the second half of 2025. In Moldova, making progress towards EU-enlargement is a main priority.
