Technical donation in cyber security area for the Armed Forces Academy "Alexandru cel Bun"

In the context of the Danish-Moldovan bilateral cooperation on defence, the “Alexandru cel Bun” Military Academy of the Armed Forces hosted a handover of equipment for a cybersecurity laboratory. The assistance was provided the Kingdom of Denmark and includes support from a Danish civilian advisor to the Academy.

The handover event was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the National Army brigadier general Vitalie Micov, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark in the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Søren Jensen, and the Danish defence attaché Dorthe Sørensen as well as the representatives of military education from the Republic of Moldova.

As Danish Ambassador Søren Jensen noted during the handover, this is “not only about opening a new facility. It is about partnership. It is about trust. And it is about a shared commitment by Denmark and Moldova to invest in the future – through education, professionalism, and resilience.”

Brigadier general Micov, in his turn, stated that the equipment delivered to the Military Academy supports the development of educational infrastructure in cybersecurity and management of hybrid threats, clearly contributing to the growth of educational capacities of the institution.

The project’s goal is consolidation of institutional capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber-attacks and hybrid threats, through donation of equipment and specialized software. Through this support, the education process of the military personnel is adjusted to the European standards and good practices in military education and informational security.

The cybersecurity laboratory donation amounts to EUR 270.000 and forms part of Denmark’s broader engagement with Moldova under the Peace and Stabilisation Programme for 2025-2028. The programme has a total budget of EUR 6.7 million.

The assistance offered to the „Alexandru cel Bun” Armed Forces Academy is the confirmation of commitment of the Kingdom of Denmark to support the development of military education in the Republic of Moldova and its integration into the European security architecture, through transfer of expertise, technology, and good practices.
